AI tutoring.
Build understanding.
A useful study conversation goes beyond one answer. FutureSteps Study lets eligible students ask AI to explain a concept, give a hint and work through follow-up questions at the point where they need help.
Try a study routineA routine for learning with AI.
Choose one concept.
Share your topic, current course and what you already understand. Ask for an explanation that connects to that starting point, instead of trying to review an entire subject in one message.
Leave room to think.
Ask for one practice question and attempt it before looking at a solution. If you need help, request a hint about the next step and explain your reasoning in the follow-up.
Keep the useful idea.
Explain the concept in your own words. Save a short Note about what changed in your understanding, then revisit the topic with a different example during your next study session.
Move from a definition
to an explanation.
“I know slope is change in y divided by change in x, but I do not understand what it tells me. Explain it using a simple situation, then give me one question to try. Let me attempt it before showing the solution.”
A useful follow-up: “I think the slope describes how much y changes for each extra unit of x. Is that reasoning right for this example?” AI responses vary; compare the explanation with your class materials.
Start with an example you can read.
The in-app learning path includes selected lessons with explanations, worked examples and quick checks. Eligible students with Study access can ask about a lesson, save Notes and mark their own progress. Those progress labels reflect the student’s selections; they are not school grades or a mastery assessment.
Preview the approach in our free grade-specific learning guides, including an eighth-grade slope example and a high-school Algebra I example. The current collection uses Texas course references and does not cover a complete curriculum.
For help with a current assignment, use the homework-help guide to describe the problem and the step where you got stuck. Your question gives the conversation its focus.
These public guides and examples are free to read without an account. FutureSteps accounts are for ages 13 and older, with email verification and applicable permission steps. Younger learners can explore these public examples with a grown-up.
Eligible students receive a 90-day homework trial from their signup date, after email verification and required age and permission checks. No invitation is needed. Up to 100 Study requests per day, subject to your weekly allowance and service availability. Longer chats and photos may use more allowance. AI coaching requires a paid upgrade from the start. The homework trial needs no card and never charges automatically.
Grade level does not determine account eligibility. For eligible students, in-app Study includes AI homework help and tutoring; college and career AI coaching is a separate paid feature.
Questions before you begin.
Is this a human tutor?
No. Study provides AI-generated help. It can explain and respond to follow-up questions, but it can make mistakes or miss context. Check important details with your class materials or teacher, and follow your school’s rules for AI use.
Does AI tutoring guarantee better grades?
No. FutureSteps offers study support, not a guaranteed academic outcome. Your teacher sets assignment and assessment requirements. Use Study to explore your reasoning, practice and identify questions to bring back to class.
Can younger children use these learning resources?
The public grade guides and examples need no account and can be read with a grown-up. FutureSteps accounts are for ages 13 and older, subject to verification and applicable permission steps. A grade guide does not change account eligibility.
Is tutoring included with college and career coaching?
Study homework help and tutoring have the homework trial and allowance described above. College and career AI coaching requires a paid upgrade from the start. Check Plans & access for the current options; the homework trial does not include paid coaching.
