Stuck on homework?
Find your next step.
Bring the question, what you have tried, and the part that feels unclear. FutureSteps Study offers AI homework help so eligible students can ask for a hint, explore an explanation and try the next step themselves.
Build a better questionMake the question easier to work with.
Show the actual problem.
Type the question or attach a clear photo in Study. Include the relevant instructions and your attempt. Check that numbers, labels and symbols are readable, and leave out names or other personal details.
Ask about one step.
Say where you got stuck: choosing a formula, understanding a word, interpreting evidence or checking your reasoning. Ask for a hint first if you want room to solve it yourself.
Try, then explain.
Work through the next step before asking a follow-up. Compare the explanation with your class notes and ask why the method works. Save a useful takeaway in Notes to revisit later.
Show your thinking.
Ask for a hint.
This is an illustrative prompt you could adapt to your own assignment.
“I am solving 3x + 5 = 20. I think I need to undo the +5 first, but I am not sure why I have to change both sides. Can you give me a hint without finishing the whole problem?”
After trying the step, follow up with: “I got 3x = 15. How can I check that the next step keeps the equation balanced?”
Homework help across school subjects.
In math, focus on the method and how to check a result. In English, ask about a passage, a claim or the evidence supporting it. In science, connect a concept to an observation. In social studies, separate what a source says from what you infer.
For a starting point, explore our public kindergarten through Grade 12 learning guides. Each includes an app-authored worked example and a practice question from the Texas starter collection. High-school guides use course examples; your school determines your course placement.
Follow your teacher’s rules for using AI on assignments. Use explanations to understand the work and write your own response. AI can make mistakes, so check calculations and important facts against your class materials.
These public guides and examples are free to read without an account. FutureSteps accounts are for ages 13 and older, with email verification and applicable permission steps. Younger learners can explore these public examples with a grown-up.
Eligible students receive a 90-day homework trial from their signup date, after email verification and required age and permission checks. No invitation is needed. Up to 100 Study requests per day, subject to your weekly allowance and service availability. Longer chats and photos may use more allowance. AI coaching requires a paid upgrade from the start. The homework trial needs no card and never charges automatically.
Grade level does not determine account eligibility. For eligible students, in-app Study includes AI homework help and tutoring; college and career AI coaching is a separate paid feature.
Questions before you begin.
Is FutureSteps homework help free?
The public learning guides and examples are free to read without an account. Eligible students receive the in-app 90-day homework trial described above, with request limits and a weekly allowance. The trial does not require a card or charge automatically. Check Plans & access for current availability.
Can I ask about a photo of a homework problem?
Study supports attaching a photo. Use a clear image, include relevant instructions and explain what you want help understanding. Check that any interpretation of the picture matches the original problem; blurry symbols or missing context can change the answer.
How is homework help different from AI tutoring?
Homework help starts with a specific assignment or question. AI tutoring can also explore a concept, walk through an example and use follow-up practice. Both are part of Study for eligible users with access.
